Chesapeake, Encana Deny Rigging Bids On Oil, Gas Leases

Law360, New York (May 1, 2013, 3:35 PM EDT) -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. and Encana Corp. urged a Michigan federal court Tuesday to throw out allegations that they schemed to rig bids for oil and gas leases, arguing that NorthStar Energy LLC has not shown that they took part in any anti-competitive conspiracy.

Chesapeake and Encana filed separate motions to dismiss NorthStar's antitrust suit, which alleged that the two energy companies entered an agreement that effectively depressed prices for oil and gas leases in northern Michigan.
