250 Heart Patients Settle Suit Over Unneeded Stents

Law360, New York (May 3, 2013, 2:58 PM EDT) -- Nearly 250 heart patients who accused a Maryland cardiologist of outfitting them with unneeded stents have settled their claims with Catholic Health Initiatives Inc., which formerly owned the hospital where they received treatment, the parties said Friday.

Terms were not disclosed for the deal, which ended an ongoing trial that commenced April 1 and involved Mark Midei as well as St. Joseph Medical Center, a Baltimore-area hospital now owned by the University of Maryland.
