Fla. Senate Approves Bill To Speed Up Foreclosures

Law360, Miami (May 3, 2013, 5:48 PM EDT) -- A bill aimed at streamlining the foreclosure process in Florida to address the state's worst-in-the nation backlog of cases made it through the state Legislature  on Friday, despite critics still questioning whether it will actually help borrowers.

The Florida Senate voted 26-13 in favor of H.B. 87 on the last day of the legislative session, and the House, which passed the bill 87-26 on Monday, certified the vote and forwarded it to Gov. Rick Scott. The legislation attempts to expedite the legal process for foreclosures, tighten...
