Dish's $37B Sprint Synergies Are Too Rosy, SoftBank Says

Law360, New York (May 7, 2013, 8:00 PM EDT) -- SoftBank Corp. said Tuesday that Dish Network Corp. has been overly optimistic in its estimates of the synergies it could find by acquiring Sprint Nextel Corp., the latest barb between the two dueling bidders.

Dish has said it could find cost savings and revenue overlaps worth $37 billion. It has pushed that number hard as the magic sauce in its $25 billion cash-and-stock bid for the wireless company, which trumps SoftBank's agreement to buy 70 percent of Sprint for about $20 billion.
