Fracking Supplier Hit With FLSA Overtime Class Action

By Dan Packel (May 7, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- Marcellus Shale drilling infrastructure and service provider Superior Energy Resources LLC was hit with a putative class action in Pennsylvania federal court Monday alleging that the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act as well as state employment statutes.

Superior employee Lori Smith contends that the company forced employees to attend mandatory safety meetings along with other work activities before and after their paid shifts and that the workers were not compensated for these efforts.

"The net effect of defendants' policies and practices, instituted and implemented by company principals, officers, managers and/or members, is that defendants willfully failed to pay overtime...
