Senate Confirms Ex-WilmerHale Atty As Privacy Chair

Law360, Chicago (May 8, 2013, 3:25 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed former WilmerHale partner David Medine to head a long-dormant federal board tasked with guarding against privacy and civil liberties abuses committed in the name of counterterrorism.

Medine, who waited nearly 18 months since his nomination in the face of Republican opposition, fleshes out the five-member Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, which had been completely empty from 2008 until August, and leaderless until Tuesday.
