Ex-NY Pol Bruno Asks 2nd Circ. To Kill Fraud Retrial

Law360, New York (May 8, 2013, 8:36 PM EDT) -- Former New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno asked the Second Circuit Wednesday to stop prosecutors from retrying him for bribery, arguing that a retrial would be double jeopardy.

Bruno, whose conviction for honest services fraud was vacated after the U.S. Supreme Court's seminal Skilling decision, should not face another trial on substantially similar charges, his lawyer told a panel of judges at oral arguments in Manhattan.
