House Reps. Float Companion Bill To Senate ECPA Reforms

Law360, New York (May 9, 2013, 3:28 PM EDT) -- House Republicans on Wednesday introduced companion legislation to a bill recently advanced by the Senate Judiciary Committee aimed at reforming the U.S.' outdated electronic privacy law by requiring the government to obtain a warrant before accessing email communications.

Tom Graves, R-Ga., and Kevin Yoder, R-Kan., unveiled H.R. 1852, the Email Privacy Act, which would update the quarter-century old Electronic Communications Privacy Act and impose warrant requirements on government access to certain stored electronic communications.
