DOL Strikes $1M Deal In Cable-Installer Wage Suit

Law360, New York (May 10, 2013, 3:57 PM EDT) -- Bowlin Group LLC has agreed to pay more than $1 million to settle a U.S. Department of Labor suit alleging the telecommunications services company misclassified workers as independent contractors and failed to keep accurate payroll records, the DOL announced Thursday.

U.S. District Judge David Bunning signed off on a consent judgment April 30 ordering Bowlin and its subsidiary Bowlin Services LLC to pay 196 workers $1.07 million in back wages and damages, the department said. The judge also issued a permanent injunction barring the company and...
