Texas Officials Launch Criminal Probe Of Plant Blast

Law360, New York (May 10, 2013, 6:26 PM EDT) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday said it has ordered a criminal investigation into the April 17 West, Texas, fertilizer plant explosion that leveled the facility and left the surrounding town in rubble.

The agency said it has directed the Texas Rangers and the McLennan County sheriff to launch a criminal investigation into the matter, as the state's Division of Emergency Management continues to assess damage and secure assistance for the blast's victims.

The DPS declined to provide further information about the investigation....
