Music Publisher Sues Over Rights To 'Flintstones' Theme Song

Law360, Miami (May 13, 2013, 3:54 PM EDT) -- A lawsuit filed Thursday in Miami pits a Florida-based record label against a California seller of digital record downloads in a copyright ownership dispute that has bumped the theme from "The Flintstones" and other classic cartoons from Apple's iTunes Store.

Record label and music publisher Essential Media Group LLC is seeking declaratory judgment that it owns the rights to the Everest Music Catalog, in particular recordings by Randy Van Horne and The Randy Van Horne Singers, best known for performing the theme songs for Hanna-Barbera cartoons including "Top Cat," "The Jetsons" and "The Huckleberry Hound Show."
