Signet Takes Harder Look At Romance Author

Law360, New York (January 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Only days after roundly rejecting accusations that romance author Cassie Edwards plagiarized material, publisher Signet Books has indicated that the situation merits further scrutiny.

On Friday, Signet, an offshoot of Penguin Group USA, announced that it had decided to look deeper into the growing copyright controversy surrounding Edwards.

"Our original comments were based on Signet's review of a limited selection of passages," the statement read. "We believe the situation deserves further review.”
