Homeland Security Aims To Debar Body Scanner Maker

Law360, New York (May 20, 2013, 7:49 PM EDT) -- OSI Systems Inc., which manufactured body scanners for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said Monday that the government is seeking to debar it from getting new contracts as a result of privacy concerns raised by its equipment.

The debarment notice is followup to a “show cause” letter issued by the Transportation Security Administration in November. The letter sought information related to OSI's Rapiscan Advanced Imaging Technology system and its associated Automated Target Recognition software.
