Asarco Seeks 9th Exclusivity Extension

Law360, New York (January 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Mining company Asarco LLC is asking a judge for yet another extension allowing it to exclusively file its Chapter 11 plan, saying it needs more time to haggle with creditors over outstanding liabilities.

The extension would be the company's ninth such continuance.

In a motion filed Tuesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, the company requested a new deadline of April 11 to file its plan and until June 13 to win the approval of the plan by its creditors....
