Tech Co. Faces Sanctions In Patent Row With Simon Property

Law360, New York (May 21, 2013, 8:20 PM EDT) -- A Wisconsin federal judge on Tuesday ordered NorthMobileTech LLC to pay roughly $368,500 in sanctions for pursuing an unsuccessful patent enforcement suit that was allegedly fraught with misconduct against real estate giant Simon Property Group Inc.

U.S. District Judge William Conley said a $150,000 penalty — on top of the $218,500 in Simon Property's attorneys' fees that Middleton, Wis.-based NorthMobileTech was told to cover — was warranted because one of NMT's two principals allegedly provided false information during a deposition.
