Verizon Challenges Cox Over Phone Patents

Law360, New York (January 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Verizon Communications Inc. has filed suit against rival Cox Communications Inc., claiming the country’s third-largest cable provider has infringed eight Verizon patents by providing digital telephone services through its cable network.

In a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Verizon claimed that digital telephone systems, devices and services provided by Cox and a number of its Virginia-based subsidiaries infringe its patents.
