Obama To Pick Former Bush Official As FBI Director

Law360, Los Angeles (May 29, 2013, 10:08 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama is reportedly planning to nominate as the FBI's next director James B. Comey, who is known for refusing to reauthorize former President George W. Bush's warrantless wiretapping program when he served as deputy attorney general in Bush's administration.

Obama isn't expected to immediately nominate Comey, a Republican who won favor among Democrats when he refused to reauthorize the wiretapping program, according to the Associated Press. Current FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III is slated to step down in September.
