China Shows Interest In TPP Talks Amid Japan Concerns

By Jonathan Randles (May 30, 2013, 7:43 PM EDT) -- China on Thursday reportedly expressed interest in joining Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, while U.S. labor groups aired concerns that Japan's recent inclusion in the ongoing trade talks — and the possibility of easing Tokyo's access to U.S. markets — could harm American workers.

A spokesman for China's Ministry of Commerce said Beijing would "analyze the advantages, disadvantages and the possibility of joining the TPP" and exchange information with countries currently involved in the negotiations, according to a story published by the Bangkok Post.
