States Sue DOE Over Boiler Standards

Law360, New York (January 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A pair of lawsuits has been filed over the U.S. Department of Energy's new efficiency standards for residential furnaces and boilers, saying they are “shockingly weak” and will cost consumers millions of dollars on their heating bills.

Both lawsuits were filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Thursday. The first was filed by New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York City, while the second was filed by the public interest law firm Earthjustice on behalf of the Natural Resources Defense Council....
