AstraZeneca Sues To Block Generic Nexium

Law360, New York (January 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- AstraZeneca AB has filed suit against Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., claiming the generic maker's proposed version of blockbuster heartburn drug Nexium infringes three AstraZeneca patents.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, AstraZeneca alleged that the Indian generic maker’s abbreviated new drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 20 mg and 40 mg delayed release esomeprazole magnesium caplets infringes its Nexium patents.
