VA Rules Debate May Help Close Contracting Gap For Vets

Law360, New York (June 6, 2013, 8:06 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking public comment on revisions to its widely criticized rules for helping veteran-owned businesses win VA contracts, which some experts see as a chance to highlight the frustrating differences between the VA's contracting program and governmentwide rules.

Veterans groups told Congress in March that the VA was the most difficult agency for veteran-owned contractors to work with, citing the agency's time-consuming and opaque approach to vetting that often results in the exclusion of legitimate veteran-owned businesses.
