Chrysler Recalls 434K Jeeps Over Air Bags, Transmissions

Law360, New York (June 7, 2013, 2:45 PM EDT) -- Chrysler Group LLC is recalling about 434,000 Jeep Wranglers, Compasses and Patriots for transmission and air bag problems, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Wednesday.

According to NHTSA, Chrysler is recalling about 254,000 2010-12 Compasses and Patriots because a software error may cause the delayed deployment or nondeployment of seat belt pre-tensioners — which eliminate seat belt slack in the event of a crash — and side airbag curtains in some vehicles involved in rollover crashes.
