High Court Seeks Fed Input On Maternity Leave Case

Law360, New York (January 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has asked for the Bush administration's viewpoint on whether AT&T Corp. workers who were denied service credits while on maternity leave prior to 1979 may recoup the credits to calculate higher pensions.

The Supreme Court asked the U.S. solicitor general on Tuesday to file a brief to help the court decide whether women are entitled to service credit before the 1979 passage of the Pregnancy Disability Act, which prohibited discriminating against those who took pregnancy leave.
