That criticism persists despite several successes under the administration's watch. For example, the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division brought its first successful merger challenge in seven years when it blocked the combination of do-it-yourself tax software firms in 2011 and notched several other "wins," including the abandonment of AT&T's bid to acquire competing wireless provider T-Mobile shortly thereafter.
