Doughty Reaps $1.5B In Vue Sale To Canadian Pension Funds

Law360, New York (June 10, 2013, 2:12 PM EDT) -- The private equity arm of Canadian pension fund OMERS has partnered with Alberta Investment Management Corp. to buy European cinema manager Vue Entertainment from U.K. private equity house Doughty Hanson & Co. for £935 million ($1.45 billion), the companies said Monday.

London-based Vue, one of the largest theater operators in the world, owns 146 cinemas with more than 1,300 screens throughout Europe. OMERS Private Equity Inc. and AIMCo will work with Vue's existing management team to explore new growth opportunities across the continent, the buyers said....
