Takeda Diabetes Drug Caused Fatal Bladder Cancer, Suit Says

Law360, New York (June 11, 2013, 5:27 PM EDT) -- Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. was hit Monday with a lawsuit in New Jersey federal court alleging its diabetes drug Actos caused bladder cancer in a patient who eventually died from the disease.

The lawsuit is just one of several Takeda is facing over the drug, which is prescribed to improve blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes. Plaintiff Janice Lightner, the daughter of the patient who died, Ralph Liscio, says Liscio took Actos and later developed fatal bladder cancer.
