Calif. Appeals Court Eyes Revival Of Dole Death Squad Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (June 12, 2013, 7:21 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court said Wednesday that it will likely resurrect a wrongful death suit accusing Dole Food Co. Inc. of paying Colombian paramilitaries to kill 170 people near South American banana plantations, saying a trial judge didn't properly notify plaintiffs' counsel before dismissing the complaint.

Justice Sandy R. Kriegler said at oral arguments that the court's tentative ruling was that "legal problems" based on the trial court's dismissal of the case were sufficient to warrant reversal.
