ACA Medicaid Expansion Passes In Calif. Legislature

Law360, Washington (June 17, 2013, 1:37 PM EDT) -- The California State Legislature voted on Saturday to expand Medicaid benefits to 1.4 million low-income residents, approving a provision of the federal Affordable Care Act.

Both the state senate and assembly approved the Medi-Cal expansion measures in largely party-line votes over the weekend, just one day after passing the state's main $96.3 billion budget plan. The ACA calls for expanding Medicaid eligibility to all adults making up to 133 percent of the federal poverty line, an expansion that would bring an estimated 16 million more people...
