Fine-Tooth Comb For $3B Murdoch-Packer Media Deal

Law360, New York (January 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Australia's competition regulator will examine a proposed $3 billion deal that would see the heirs of two of the country's wealthiest moguls control Consolidated Media Holdings Ltd.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said Thursday it would scrutinize the proposed pact between Lachlan Murdoch and James Packer to buy the media giant from shareholders.

“I can confirm the ACCC will be reviewing the proposal closely,” commission spokeswoman Rebecca Brent said in a statement.
