CSX Sues Waste Co. Over Train Derailment, Explosion

Law360, New York (June 19, 2013, 1:35 PM EDT) -- CSX Transportation Inc. on Tuesday hit refuse hauler Alban Waste LLC with a lawsuit alleging Alban’s negligence caused a truck-train collision in Maryland that resulted in the derailment of 15 train cars and a chemical fire and explosion that damaged nearby homes and businesses.

The crash occurred May 28 in Rosedale, Md., when an Alban truck drove across train tracks without stopping beforehand and was struck by a CSX train, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. The NTSB said the train consisted of two locomotives,...
