Fla. City Residents Will Vote On $50M Pier Project

Law360, Miami (June 21, 2013, 2:31 PM EDT) -- The St. Petersburg, Fla., city council on Thursday voted against canceling a $50 million contract to rebuild the city's pier and instead allow voters to decide the issue in an August referendum.

In a vote taken just before 10 p.m. Thursday, the city council members said they would not cancel the deal to build the controversial figure-eight design, known as The Lens, and agreed to incorporate the “Lens” name into the wording of the Aug. 27 ballot question, according to Tom Lambdon, president of Vote on...
