FDA To Eye Bluefin Tuna Over Mercury Fears

Law360, New York (January 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is set to include bluefin tuna in its annual sampling test after laboratory tests in New York showed extremely high levels of mercury. Many, however, are calling the reports unfounded and alarmist.

The New York Times reported on Wednesday that a series of tests found mercury in tuna sushi from 20 Manhattan stores and restaurants.
