Boxer Rips EPA For Dragging Feet After Plant Explosions

Law360, New York (June 27, 2013, 1:20 PM EDT) -- Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee Chairwoman Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., on Thursday demanded new government regulation to help prevent chemical plant explosions, ripping into a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency official for inaction following recent disasters in Texas and Louisiana.

Boxer said that the EPA needs to step up and quickly issue an alert, guidance and rulemaking for storing ammonium nitrate and other flammable chemicals that have been linked to deadly explosions in West, Texas, and Geismar, La.
