Law360, Los Angeles (June 24, 2013, 7:47 PM EDT) -- An Arkansas federal judge refused Friday to grant class certification in a suit accusing Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Panasonic Corp. of concealing screen defects found in Sanyo plasma televisions, saying Arkansas product liability law cannot be applied to plaintiffs from other states.
U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright granted partial summary judgment to Wal-Mart and Panasonic, but allowed named plaintiff Denise Jarrett's individual claims against Wal-Mart for breach of implied warranty and unjust enrichment to proceed.
