What Effect Will Stoneridge Have On Litigation?

Law360 (January 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Supreme Court issued its opinion in Stoneridge Investment Partners LLC v. Scientific-Atlanta Inc. and Motorola Inc. on Jan. 15, 2008.

As widely reported, the Supreme Court ruled that the implied private right of action under Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 did not extend to two non-speaking defendants who made no statements or representations to the supposedly injured shareholders on which they could have possibly relied and had no duty to speak to those investors.
