LG, RIM, Verizon Targeted Over Smartphone Patents

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 6:36 PM EDT) -- Telecommunications giants and smartphone makers including LG Electronics Inc., Research In Motion Ltd. and Verizon Communications Inc. were hit Tuesday with patent infringement suits accusing them of violating patents covering cellphone roaming and signaling technology.

In separate complaints filed in Texas federal court, Plano, Texas-based Cellular Communications Equipment LLC targeted the South Korean electronics giant’s smartphone devices including the LG Escape 4G and the LG Optimus G, as well as BlackBerry maker Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Z10 LTE and BlackBerry Q10LTE devices.
