Visto, RIM Patent Trial Starts Up In The U.K.

Law360, New York (January 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The United Kingdom's High Court of Justice has begun hearing a case between Visto Corp. and Research In Motion Ltd. over e-mail messaging technology in the first of many lawsuits across the globe between the two companies to go to trial.

RIM, maker of the Blackberry smart phone, first sued Visto in the U.K. in December 2006, hoping to invalidate a patent on a system for synchronizing e-mail.
