EU Names New Chief Economist, Media Unit Director

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 7:00 PM EDT) -- The European Commission on Wednesday named Italian economics professor Massimo Motta as its newest chief economist for competition, and formally put Linsey McCallum in charge of of its media, telecom and Internet antitrust and mergers unit.

Motta, who is currently working as a research professor at Barcelona's Universitat Pompeu Fabra, will replace outgoing Chief Economist Kai-Uwe Kuehn by Oct. 1, according to the commission.
