J&J Units Lodge IP Suit Over Generic Concerta

Law360, New York (June 27, 2013, 2:51 PM EDT) -- Two Johnson & Johnson units sued a Hungarian pharmaceutical company in Illinois federal court Wednesday, aiming to block the drugmaker from launching a generic version of the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug Concerta.

Alza Corp. and Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. accuse Osmotica Pharmaceutical Corp.'s Hungarian unit, Osmotica Kereskedelmi es Szolgaltato Kft., of patent infringement over its filing of an abbreviated new drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The suit asks for damages and a permanent injunction.
