Hobby Lobby Apt To Duck ACA Contraceptive Rule: 10th Circ.

Law360, New York (June 27, 2013, 7:29 PM EDT) -- The Tenth Circuit on Thursday said Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. will likely be able to show that its Christian beliefs would be impermissibly violated by an Affordable Care Act mandate that employers include birth control in health plans, boosting numerous lawsuits brought by for-profit companies.

The groundbreaking opinion used sweeping language at times but also was careful to note that Hobby Lobby and sister company Mardel Inc. are closely held businesses that object only to a small portion of the ACA’s contraception mandate.
