EEOC To Revisit Fired NJ Teacher's Religious Bias Claim

Law360, New York (June 28, 2013, 1:35 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has reversed course after being accused of being hostile toward religious claims and reopened a discrimination charge from a New Jersey teacher who said he was fired after giving a student a Bible, a religious rights group said Thursday.

Liberty Institute, which bills itself as a nonprofit legal group committed to defending religious freedom, said the EEOC told substitute teacher Walt Tutka it would reconsider its dismissal of his claim less than a week after the group sent the agency...
