AARP, FTC File Amicus Briefs In Cipro Case

Law360, New York (January 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The AARP, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and several consumer groups filed amicus briefs before the Federal Circuit on Monday in support of the plaintiffs in the antitrust case against Bayer AG and several smaller pharmaceutical companies over the drug Cipro.

A slew of individuals, unions, health plans, and other groups are appealing a lower court decision in favor of the pharmaceutical companies, which are accused of forming an illegal agreement to keep prices for Cipro supracompetitive and prevent new market entrants.
