'Stay Tuned' For More Hospital Merger Battles: FTC Head

Law360, Washington (June 28, 2013, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez touted the agency's recent success in combating anti-competitive hospital mergers on Friday, telling attorneys and academics to "stay tuned" for additional FTC action to prevent negative merger effects on price and quality.

Ramirez praised the commission's recent winning streak in blocking potentially anti-competitive hospital mergers across the country at the American Bar Association's symposium on retrospective analysis and credited the FTC's retrospective hospital merger study for turning its enforcement luck around.
