Class Argues For $5M Settlement With Credit Card Issuer

By Carolina Bolado (July 1, 2013, 8:05 PM EDT) -- A putative class of individuals who say credit card issuer World Financial Network National Bank NA made repeated debt collection phone calls to people unrelated to the cardholders asked a Florida federal judge Monday to sign off on a $5 million settlement.

In a hearing before U.S. District Judge Robin S. Rosenbaum, plaintiffs' attorney Robert Murphy told the court that the settlement, which will allow some class members to receive up to $1,500 per documented call from the bank, is a good outcome for his clients.
