Bill Curbing Debt Collection Tactics Heads To Calif. Gov.

Law360, San Diego (July 2, 2013, 10:52 PM EDT) -- The California Assembly on Monday approved a measure sponsored by the California attorney general that would require debt buyers to verify the ownership and amount of a debt before they could initiate litigation or collection efforts.

The state Assembly floor voted 72-0 in favor of S.B. 233, which is authored by state Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco.
