Alamo Unlawfully Stopped Recognizing Union, NLRB Rules

Law360, New York (July 3, 2013, 2:50 PM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board ruled Tuesday that Alamo Rent-A-Car violated federal labor law when it withdrew recognition from the union representing workers at its Miami International Airport location because the company's actions tainted the decertification process.

Largely upholding an administrative law judge's finding in the case, the NLRB found that Alamo's decision to stop bargaining with the Teamsters local that represented the employees ran afoul of the National Labor Relations Act because the company had unlawfully withdrawn the employees' short-term disability benefits just before the...
