FCC Majority OKs SoftBank's $21.6B Sprint Deal

Law360, New York (July 3, 2013, 8:03 PM EDT) -- A majority of the Federal Communications Commission has reportedly voted to approve SoftBank Corp.'s $21.6 billion takeover of Sprint Nextel Corp., all but lifting the deal over its final regulatory hurdle.

Two of the three commissioners currently sitting on the FCC have backed SoftBank's bid to buy the Overland Park, Kan.-based Sprint, along with Sprint's related deal to acquire the shares of Clearwire Corp. it does not own already, according to The Hill and other media outlets, which cite anonymous sources familiar with the FCC action....
