FWS Settlement Earns Texas Critters' Endangered Status

Law360, New York (July 9, 2013, 1:36 PM EDT) -- The federal government on Tuesday said it has put six West Texas aquatic snails and crustaceans on the endangered species list, partly to comply with a settlement the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reached with an environmental group last year.

The Center for Biological Diversity said the FWS also set aside 450 acres of critical habitat for the critters. The four springsnails and two crustaceans live in springs in droughty West Texas.
