House Approves $30B GOP Energy Spending Bill

Law360, New York (July 11, 2013, 1:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed a $30.4 billion energy and water spending bill that substantially cuts spending for renewable projects, voting 227-198 in favor of the measure late Wednesday in a largely party-line vote.

The funding level for the appropriations bill is nearly $3 billion below 2013 spending levels and $4 billion short of President Barack Obama’s budget request. The U.S. Department of Energy was hit with more than $2 billion of those cuts, including $900 million worth in renewable energy reductions.
