Wyeth Launches Generic Protonix To Preempt Rivals

Law360, New York (January 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- After failing to reach an agreement with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Wyeth has announced it will launch its own generic version of its heartburn drug, Protonix.

Teva was originally going to launch its generic product, pantoprazole, in December. However, it agreed not to ship the product while it tried to work out a deal with Altana, which makes Protonix, and Wyeth, which markets it in the U.S. Earlier this month, the agreement was extended to the end of January.
